Fire Dampers

Fire Damper Maintenance

As from 1st October 2006 the “Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005”places the responsibility for fire prevention on the owner or occupier of the building.

Fire dampers are installed within ventilation system to prevent the spread of fire should one occur within a building. Fire dampers activate at set temperatures to shut off the ductwork to contain the fire.

A fire damper can not only save the entire building from burning but more importantly save life’s as it can provide extra time for people to evacuate should a fire start.

Services our company are able to offer:-

  • Building Surveys
  • Fire damper testing works
  • Correct installation of fire dampers in the right locations
  • Identification and labelling of all fire dampers
  • Complete reports forming part of a buildings H&S manual

Dry debris within a ventilation system, complete with no or non operational fire dampers can be a high fire concern for a building. Our skilled operatives can advise the condition of the ventilation systems, and offer recommendations to improve it.

Should the ventilation system be cleaned and all the fire dampers inspected and tested many insurance companies will take this information into consideration when assessing a building for premium purposes.
